The annual meeting of the Human Anatomy & Physiology Society (HAPS) will feature update seminars on selected human anatomy and physiology topics and on the application to the classroom of current educational research. In addition, there will be numerous workshops that offer demonstrations and hands-on learning of practical tips, techniques, and other applications appropriate to the anatomy or physiology classroom.

HAPS was founded in 1987 to promote communication among teachers of human anatomy and physiology at all levels of the curriculum and to encourage educational research and publication by HAPS members.

Anyone who is interested in attending the meeting or presenting a workshop can find detailed meeting information at www.hapsweb.org.

Sixth Annual Meeting of the International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE), Co-sponsored by Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara, Guadalajara, Mexico, July 20–23, 2002

This IAMSE annual meeting will feature several concurrent, day-long, preconference courses in faculty development, geared especially for basic science faculty members. These include Dr. Barbara Barzansky, Secretary of the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association, discussing "Core Competencies in Medical Science Education." Dr. Douglas Wood, President of the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine, will lead us in consideration of "The Future of Basic Sciences in Undergraduate Medical Education," and Dr. William Anderson, Director of the Office of Medical Education, Research, and Development at Michigan State University, will be addressing the topic "Faculty Development in Medical Science Education."
